VEEDERSBURG — Cecil Hollis, 82, formerly of Veedersburg, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He had been a resident for two years. He was born Dec. 17, 1919 in Judyville, the son of Emmett and Laura Beaver Hollis. He married Margie L. Ballah, Feb. 7, 1945 in Veedersburg. She preceded in death in 1998. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and retired from Harrison Steel in 1983. He coached, Little League and enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Williamsport, the V.F.W. and the Eagles organizations in Attica. Survivors include: two sons, Randall (Vicki) Hollis and Rick (Sue Ann) Hollis and a daughter, Robin Harrison, all of Veedersburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Hollis, Lafayette; and a sister Mildred Hollis, Attica. He was also preceded in death by a daughter and a grandchild. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery Veedersburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home. Preferred memorials to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer Association. – jlr
